Valerie partying with Pnoy amid Sendong tragedy

“Done w/ work.. Tnx for having me.. :) It was nice to see Pres. P-Noy laughing at my jokes & enjoying my performance..ü #Malacañang #PSGNight,” Valerie Concepcion’s controversial tweet that landed on the top trending topics of Twitter and later on was deleted after getting many dislikes and negative comments.

Pnoy attended the said PSG (Presidential Security Group) party with the people who saved his life as well as their families. However, Communications Secretary Ricky Carandang said Aquino just dropped by the PSG party. Carandang said in an interview that the PSG party have already been earlier scheduled and paid so it was impossible to cancel it.

Meanwhile, Valerie has apologized for her tweets.

“I just want to clarify that I was invited to perform at Malacañang’s Christmas Party for their employees with their husbands/wives and kids. Yes, the president attended the gathering. I do not see anything wrong with that since it’s his obligation and responsibility being the head of Malacañang to be present and show his support for his hardworking employees and their respective families.

“But I believe that it doesn’t mean that the president is not thinking of ways to help our kababayan(s) in Mindanao. It doesn’t mean that the president is disregarding the plight of our fellow Filipinos. Let’s not be too quick to judge.” She continued, “But if I, in any way, offended you guys and sounded insensitive, I am very sorry. It wasn’t my intention to do either. I can’t imagine how difficult life is for the people affected in Mindanao and how difficult it is to be the president of the Philippines at this moment. Once again, I am very sorry for all those people I have offended. May God bless us all.”

Pnoy’s sisters also defended him on ABS-CBN morning show “Kris TV”.

“Ngayon, ‘yun namang party ay matagal nang naka-schedule ‘yon. Siyempre, may mga masasamang nangyayari at may malungkot but then, life should go on. Hindi naman pwedeng huminto na lang ang buhay at magmukmok na lang tayo,” Ballsy said.

Kris added, “I think hindi niyo po maiaalis sa amin na gusto naming i-depensa ang kapatid namin. The entire night, also Saturday, when we were together, he was constantly on the phone monitoring everything. I think today ang pagpunta ko although I’m going with ABS-CBN. I’m also representing him. I think in many cases talaga, the three of us were able to do that and also there are a lot of security concerns as well.”

“Pero siguro hindi niyo maiaalis sa amin na sabihin namin na it’s not like he doesn’t care. Give me a break, diba? Siyempre pangulo siya ng Pilipinas at mahal niya ang ating mga kababayan. So siyempre, gagawin naman niya ang lahat. Sana huwag napakabilis ng batikos kasi napakaraming ahensiya ang nagtatrabaho na. It’s just that a President is not like you or me na we can hop on a plane and go there because there are a lot of national concerns.”

Pnoy is said to visit the typhoon affected areas this Tuesday.

Joey De Leon visits the Buzz and trends on Twitter

In line with promoting his latest film “Won’t Last A Day Without You” with Gerald Anderson and Sarah Geronimo, veteran comedian and host Joey De Leon visited the set of the Buzz for the first time last Sunday. She was interviewed by Toni Gonzaga who was a former host in the noontime show “Eat Bulaga” before she transferred to ABS-CBN.

Upon arriving, de Leon gave an “Eat Bulaga” coffee table book to Gonzaga that featured an old photo of Gonzaga with the hosts of the show.  This turned Gonzaga emotional.

But the veteran comedian admitted that they were sad when Gonzaga left the show.

“Siyempre nalungkot kami nung nawala ka. Pero ngayon, napapanood pa rin naman kita eh,” he said. “O tignan mo naman, nung umalis ka umasenso ka,” he added “Kung di ka lumayas sa ‘Bulaga’ edi baka sa EB Babes ka na.”

Gonzaga on the other hand said that she is thankful to have worked and learned from a showbiz icon like Joey de Leon. “Mabibilang ko ang sarili ko sa isa sa mga pinakamaswerte sa henerasyon na ito na nakatrabaho ang isang Joey de Leon,” she said.

In the Twitter world, viewers were also affected by “reunion” of de Leon and Gonzaga. “Joey de Leon” ranked fifth on the list on Sunday afternoon. Netizens tweeted that they enjoyed the interview wherein they felt emotional and at the same time laughed with de Leon’s antics.

Anti-Angry Birds Bill bill a hoax

Following the controversial Anti Planking Act, Filipino Netizens again aired their sentiments over Twitter about an alleged bill that aims to ban products of the online game “Angry Birds”.

Dubbed as the “Anti-Angry Birds Bill”, the news went viral after a news was posted on a satrical website called “So, What’s News?”.  The article states that the bill will be sponsored by Quezon City Representative Winston Castelo who is also known as the representative who wanted to file the Anti-Planking Act of 2011.

According to the article, Castelo got the idea for the bill when he went Christmas shopping. Complaining over the popularity of Angry Birds in various line of products. “Everywhere I looked, ‘Angry Birds’ this, ‘Angry Birds’ that! Where is the product diversity? Shouldn’t the DTI be monitoring this?” the representative supposedly said.

“This is why this bill is even more important than my own Anti-Planking Bill. I hope that my colleagues here at Batasan will support this bill,” Castelo said, according to the website.

In a Facebook message to GMA News Online, Castelo said he finds the satirical Angry Birds Bill funny and amusing and claims the news is hoax.

Pinoy Quits Facebook

MANILA, Philippines – Days ago, creative web technologist Joseph Dee and systems designer Matthew Milan of Toronto, Canada asked Facebook users to dump the social networking service, citing privacy concerns.

They created a website, which declared May 31 as “Quit Facebook Day” and provided alternatives to the popular social networking site, such as Twitter or Flickr.

“If you agree that Facebook doesn’t respect you, your personal data or the future of the web, you may want to join us,” the website read.

Some Pinoys won’t give up Facebook

In the Philippines, it seems that Facebook is also a hard habit to break.

Abs-cbnNEWS.com posted the question “Would issues about Facebook’s privacy policies make you quit Facebook?” in its official Facebook page on Monday morning, and to date, only 3 members (out of more than 20 users who gave their comments) said “yes.”

Most of them said it’s the Facebook user’s responsibility to be careful about what they post, and to hide things that they don’t want other people to see.

“No, the problem here is not Facebook. People should really pore over and go around to learn more about the privacy settings, madali lang naman (it’s just easy),” said Famela Bayawa.

“No, because I do believe if you’re wise enough, no matter how tight the security of Facebook is, you would not put important or very sensitive items in your account,” added Danilo Cruz.

African- American Spiderman?

Comedian and actor Donald Glover has started a viral campaign to get him an audition for the role of Peter Parker in the new Spider-Man film. Glover has taken to the social marketing streets and is already seeing a lot of support. Get the details after the break.

The actor started the campaign yesterday after someone on Twitter let him know about an io9 article that suggested races other than “white” should be considered for the confirmed reboot to the wildly successful franchise. The comments were flooded with nominations for Glover. He apparently loves the character, and just wants an audition, as he mentions in a recent tweet.

Some people are mistaken. I don’t want to just be given the role. I want to be able to audition. I truly love Spider-Man.

Speaking of Twitter, Glover is using the hashtag tool to rally up support and create a trending topic, using “#donald4spiderman”. A Facebook group has even been created by one fan, and it already has over two thousand members. Check out the page for some great edited Spiderman photos that range from believable to hilarious. Personally, I find Glover hilarious and fun to watch, but it’s hard for me to see him in that role. What do you think?
