Manny Pacquiao’s 3rd fight with Marquez

Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez VS Manny "Pacman" Marquez

This November 12, 2011 another interesting fight will happen. It is the Pacquiao VS Marquez 3 fight at Chelsea Pier New York. The two boxers will match again after their 2 fights which already won by Manny Pacquiao. The Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez are still on his way in getting back from his lost from his fight to Manny Pacquiao. He is not convinced about their 2nd fight because he believed that he won that fight against Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. To remind you, their 2nd fight is a very tough fight that everyone was eager to watch that fight.

Before the press conference starts at the North America kick-off international Media tour Manny Pacquiao performed the song at a press conference in Las Vegas ahead of his title fight against Juan Manuel Marquez. But many was shocked when someone ask Pacquiao about his song, and Pacquiao said: “I will tell you now, I’m not a good singer but I can sing and I love to hear songs,”

Manny Pacquiao vowed that his third fight against Juan Manuel Marquez will be very different than their previous bouts. Marquez is proudly to say that he ready to face Pacquiao in their third fight. “I’m not saying it’s going to be an easier fight but I have to train hard,” said Pacquiao. He told ESPN’s Sports Center the main difference will come from his improvement as a fighter. “I have had a lot of changes. I’m stronger now compared to years ago,” said Pacquiao. “I learned more techniques and strategy for my style, and I’ve improved my right hand,” he added.

Pacquiao and Marquez figured in 2 closely fought matches in 2004 and 2008. In 2004, the Filipino boxer decked Marquez 3 times in round 1. The Mexican, however, rallied in the following rounds to escape with a draw. In their 2008 rematch, Pacquiao hammered a split decision against the Mexican by scoring a knockdown in the 3rd round. The Filipino boxer said he will post a more convincing win this time now that he’s fighting in a higher weight division. “I’m very comfortable moving up to the higher division,” said Pacquiao.

Manny is guaranteed to have $22 – $30 million USD in the said fight that depends upon the pay-per-view sales.

Fighting Congressman Manny Pacquiao of Sarangani province is seeking a higher government position in 2013. He said he will be retiring by 2013 in his boxing career. “By 2013 I am running for governor and it’s going to be hard for me to continue my boxing career,”

And on their 3rd fight on this coming November, many sports enthusiasts and experts that said that it will really a smart and a full of heart fight by the both boxers because of their determination in winning this fight.

DIVORCE in the Philippines?

Divorce? Yes ro No?

Divorce? Yes or No?

Divorce is a controversial issue ever since it was mentioned in the Philippine Congress. It was 1991, when Representative Manuel C. Ortega filed the House Bill No. 6993 to endorse the divorce to be legal in the Philippines. In 2001, similar matter was filed by Senator Rodolfo G. Biazon and Bellaflor J. Angara-Castillo under Senate Bill no. 782 and House Bill no. 878, respectively. Then, in 2005 party-list representative Liza Masa of Gabriela also filed a divorce bill and filed it again during the 14th congress under House Bill no. 3461 to introduce divorce in the Philippines.

Today, DIVORCE has been HOT TOPIC not only inside the congress but also throughout the Philippines especially in the rural areas. There are different opinions coming out that categorizing the supporters and non-supporters of the said bill. Even the government officials have different opinions regarding the House Bill no. 3461.

“It is bound to be another one contentious bill, but let me just say that I myself is in favor of the bill. (It’s) very difficult to let the people who cannot continue to live together. “– Feliciano Belmonte

“Let us not keep our country in the dark ages. I appeal to my colleagues in Congress to let the legislative mill run its course on the Divorce bill without further delay and give Filipino couples in irreparable and unhappy marriages this option.”- Luzviminda Ilagan

While, Saranggani Representative Manny Pacquiao took his stand to not support the bill echoing the opinion of Catholic Bishops.

For the non-supporters of the bill, marriage is not only a legal union but also a sacred union between the man and woman bless by God. These two persons institute themselves as partner for their whole life and promise not to separate whatever happens. But for the supporters, there are unhappy marriages all over the Philippines. These marriages are not working so why not end it. So, divorce is the only option for them.

This matter will take time for the Philippines to sort out. It is also significant for the congress to know the opinions of their citizens. This will help them to decide if the country needs the Divorce Bill or not.

Donaire hits Montiel with a Flash.

Sunday, February 20, 2011 – at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas. Another honor has been brought for the Philippines by Nonito “the Flash” Donaire for his win against the undefeated Mexican fighter Fernando Montiel.

Montiel who holds a 44-2-2 (win-loss-draw) record, 34 of this won via knockout, the defender. And Donaire who’s the challenger, has a 25-1 and 17 KO’s.

Some are saying that this 12 round fight is going to be tough for Donaire, because his opponent is known to be very competitive and a courageous fighter inside the ring, so this is really a chance for the Filipino Flash to prove that he has the qualities alike of the fellow Filipino 8th Division title holder Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.

Montiel and Donaire seems to have a good friendship on their weigh in, but as they enter the ring and their fight started, both of them became fierce and fearless to conquer each other, hungry as wolves for the title WBC/WBO bantamweight.

shots taken from Donaire-Montiel fight

In the first round, Donaire move his way aggressively on Montiel. While the Mexican fighter didn’t move any further to take on Donaire. A left drive to the face stunned Montiel and a shot to the body made him grimace from overwhelming stunts given by his opponent. Donaire is noticeable to be more confident on the second round as he continued to dominate the game, but Montiel stood his ground and started to find the range with his left. A great left hook to the face stopped Donaire in his position and focus. Montiel tried to defend his self against the Filipino boxer as he stepped in closer to engage, but Donaire gave out a counter left hook that beat Montiel on his face made him lie down unconscious and dumbfound in seconds, also made him like electrocuted by the blow given by Donaire. Filipino’s and fans at the ringside started to cheer as the Filipino boxer also started to jump seeing the coming end of this fight. Montiel tried struggling to stand and get back on his momentum; however the Flash executed another batch of punches on the Mexican fighter that made the game end. With this knock-out win fight against undisputed Fernando Montiel.

Nonito Donaire became the second superstar of the Asian nation today, and now also named as the no.3 pound-for-pound boxer by the Ring Magazine. Donaire really made his name way up there after this fight, and proved himself to everyone that he had the qualities of a special boxer.

But the president answered this with an “NO” for the reason that he probably be doing so much that day, but then he promised to watch their fight on TV.

RP wins as Manny Pacquiao goes for the 8th!

The World Super Welterweight Championship is conquered once again by our very own Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao yesterday at Dallas, Texas. He won over Mexico’s Antonio Margarito with 120-108, 118-110 and 119-109 in a unanimous decision.

The match was pretty tight since the Mexican boxer got through the fight till the 12th round saying, “I’m a Mexican, we fight until the end.” His trainer, Robert Garcia shouldn’t have let him continue till the very end what with his fighter’s cuts and bruised eyes. Margarito’s face was so swollen he will allegedly undergo facial surgery to repair a fractured orbital bone in his face, stated on ESPN.com. Pride should not be a determining factor in allowing a hopelessly outclassed fighter to continue into the danger zone but Garcia decided that bragging rights were more important than the safety of his fighter.

Th fight was entertaining because of Pacquaio’s showmanship. He was too fast for Margarito despite his height and strong structure. The PacMan’s movement, power and accuracy as well as his speed of punching, imagination, courage and tireless volume of training raised the boxing sport to a new dimension.

The greatest pound-for-pound fighter in the world, who also serves as a Congressman in the country and sings with his rock band, produced a stunning performance to win an unprecedented eighth world title in eight weight divisions.
Who will ever beat The PacMan? I guess that’s for the whole world to wonder in a long time. Congratulations to Pacquiao! You made the Filipinos proud.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. will retire again, Pacquiao vs. Cotto Plan B.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. can retire if he wants to and Manny Pacquiao will just end up fighting whom he wants to.

Amid reports that the American superstar has “retired” a second time, Pacquiao watched as Miguel Cotto stopped Yuri Foreman yesterday to crown himself as the new WBA super-welterweight champion.

Bob Arum had said that if Cotto wins, and the fight with Mayweather doesn’t push through, then he might push for a second match between Pacquiao and the new super-welterweight champion from Puerto Rico.

That’s Plan B, as far as Arum is concerned, even if the Top Rank president reportedly isn’t buying Mayweather’s retirement episode, which came out of The Examiner the other day, hook, line and sinker.

Michael Koncz, Pacquiao’s chief adviser, talked to www.insidesports.ph yesterday about the possibility of a rematch between Pacquiao and Cotto, who was stopped inside 12 rounds by the Pinoy icon last November.

Koncz talked about a “minor discussion” within Team Pacquiao just as they left the Yankee Stadium after the Cotto victory. The Canadian adviser to the world’s greatest fighter said they’re going “to see what happens.”

A rematch with Cotto should give Pacquiao a crack at the “Eighth Wonder,” an eighth world title in eight different weight classes. So far, he’s the only fighter in history to have seven world titles in differnt weight classes.

Still, it’s the fight with Mayweather which everybody’s been hoping to see in November.

For one, facing Cotto at 154 lb may put Pacquiao at a disadvantage.

While Pacquiao had faced Oscar dela Hoya, Cotto and Joshua Clottey at 147 lb, he’d never weighed in heavier than 142 because his handlers feel that’s as far as he can go, and climb the ring at around 149.

Cotto must have climbed the ring way over 160 pounds against Foreman.

“Mabigat na masyado ang laban sa 154 (A fight at 154 would be too heavy),” a Team Pacquiao insider said was how Pacquiao had reacted.

Mayweather said in a videotape that he wants another “year or a couple of years off boxing” and if he does then it should dash all hopes that the superfight between him and Pacquiao would ever happen.

Aside from Cotto, also lining up for a shot at Pacquiao are former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao Knock Out another opponent

Pound-for-pound boxing champ Manny Pacquiao is headed for another knockout victory, not in the boxing ring but this time in the Philippine political arena.

Emmanuel “Manny” Dapidran Pacquiao, ran for the congressional seat in Sarangani province in the recently held 2010 Philippine elections yesterday, May 10.

As of this writing, the provincial board of canvassers in Sarangani province is still waiting for the tabulation of election returns from 7 municipalities in the lone district.

Pacquiao is still monitoring the election results but he is always as confident as ever. He said that based on the unofficial tally, he is now holding a 50% vote lead against rival Roy Chiongbian.

Stay tuned for more updates on the official declaration of the winner in Sarangani province’s representative in the Philippine’s 15th Congress.

Berto vs Pacquiao most sensible match: analyst

MANILA, Philippines – It seems like another boxing champion is setting his sights on challenging pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao, just like Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito and Erik Morales.

World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Andre Berto, who successfully defended his title on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) against Puerto Rican Carlos Quintana, said Pacquiao has not faced a boxer like him.

“It would be a great showdown because he (Pacquiao) has never had to deal with my type of speed and power combined,” Berto said in an Examiner.com article by Vivek Wallace.

“Some of his opponents had one or the other, but you could make an argument that I’d be the first with that kind of mix,” the Haitian American added.

MANILA, Philippines—Barring an irresistible offer from the camp of Floyd Mayweather Jr., the boxing world may have seen the last of its best pound-for-pound fighter.

Manny Pacquiao dimmed the luster of his homecoming Monday by saying that he was seriously thinking of hanging up his gloves.

“It’s OK for me to retire. No problem with me … I’ve been in boxing for so long. Since I was 12 years old, I have been fighting in the ring [and] now I’m already 31 years old,” Pacquiao said in Filipino during a press briefing in Malacañang a few hours after he arrived from the United States.

He said his mother, the popular Aling Dionisia, had been begging him to quit boxing, mainly to spare his body from further punishment.
