MANILA, Philippines - Raised eyebrows and wagging tongues met reports of CNN “Hero of the Year” Efren Peñaflorida’s plans to woo actress Angel Locsin.

From tabloids to news sites, many fans expressed shock, disappointment or disdain at the news.

“You’re dreaming! Just because you’re a CNN Hero doesn’t mean you can be Angel’s boyfriend,” said one user on social networking site Twitter.

A user on Facebook, meanwhile, reacted: “It was great that he won as CNN Hero [of the Year]. But I was disappointed he wanted to join the celebrity world so quickly.”

As early as now, fans are already excited about John Lloyd Cruz’s upcoming team-up with Angel Locsin, especially after seeing them together in ABS-CBN’s Christmas Station ID. ABS-CBN.com had the chance to talk to John Lloyd about it and he himself couldn’t deny the powerful chemistry that he had with Angel even in their short stint in front of the camera.

“It was a very awkward experience kasi at some point in the shot I was told na, ‘Akbayan mo, akbayan mo.’ ‘O, dapat medyo konting sweetness.’ And sabi ko nga, ‘Akbayan kita ha.’ [Nagpaalam pa ako] kasi first time naming nagkasama sa isang shot. Nakakapanibago pero sa magandang paraan,” said John Lloyd who’s simply thrilled to be working with someone as sweet and sincere as Angel. “Parang na-ano ako na, yun bang ibang babae ang tinitignan ko. Kasi for the last six or seven years kasama ko si Bea (Alonzo). Tapos gumawa kami ng dalawang pelikula ni Sarah (Geronimo), tapos ngayon iba naman.”

The silence from showbiz couple Luis Manzano and Angel Locsin is loud enough to speculate that their break-up was painful and bitter. And some members of the entertainment press allegedly even became victims of the backlash wherein he was said to have remarked “I don’t have to answer that,” referring to questions about his fallen relationship with Angel.

When asked about John Lloyd’s reaction to such story, he said that it is inevitable to shun away from the press about an actor’s broken relationship. It is something one would face one day in his career or personal life.

“I regret to hear na ganun yung approach pero siguro dahil mahirap pa yung pinagdadaan nila. Naiintindihan ko siya pero siyempre iba-iba naman kami. Siguro that time na natanong ninyo siya it’s hard pa rin,” he commented. “I cannot speak for them especially my friend Luis. When I also broke up with my girlfriend, I asked your respect and for a little time na pagdating ng panahon mas masasagot ko ng diretso and malinaw yan na walang paligoy-ligoy. And usually you would honor my requests.”

As Marian Rivera officially fills in the shoes of Darna in August 2009, the Darna before her, Angel Locsin is now besieged with queries concerning the new title holder.

“I’m happy for her,” Angel told Manila Bulletin Online and other members of the press at the thanksgiving party that ABS-CBN feted for the “Only You” cast and crew.

The actress is nothing but grateful that she once was Darna.

“Thankful ako na na-recognize ako bilang isang Darna. So, I’m happy for her (Marian) at saka maggu-goodluck ako sa kanya at sa mga susunod pang magda-Darna.”

Actress Angel Locsin is part of a Muslim royal family in Marawi City in the province of Lanao del Sur.

Locsin, a Christian, said all she knows is that a princess had adopted her mother. Reports also said Locsin’s grandfather was one of the 15 sultanates in Marawi City.

“Ngayon, nagkikita-kita pa din kami ng mga pinsan-pinsanan ko.  ‘Yong pinaka-lolo ko po ay nasa Marawi,” she said.

Actress Angel Locsin on Saturday said she has yet to regain her strength after she got infected with dengue last week.

“Happy ako na binigyan ako [ng doctor] ng chance na mag-rest dito sa bahay. Nami-miss ko ‘yong aso [ko]. Mas nanghihina ako sa hospital…kapag nagbabago surroundings [ko] nahihilo pa din ako pero ok [na] ako,” Locsin told “Entertainment Live.”

Just after their recent holiday vacation in Macau with Luis Manzano’s family, Angel Locsin faced rumors that she and Luis had already broken up. Speculation grew when Angel unexpectedly shed tears while doing a song number in ASAP. Although the couple denies that there was a third party, they admitted that they just needed to settle a small issue that they refused to divulge to the press.

Angel admits she feels relief that the issue has finally been resolved. “I’m glad. I’m super happy na naayos na talaga because back to normal na yung lahat. Inspired na ako ulit. I’m happy, siyempre ang hirap nun. Nung habang pinapalabas yung movie tapos may iniisip kang iba diba? Pero ngayon masaya na, at least okay na. Madaming haka-haka na baka kaya ako malungkot or sobrang hindi kami nag-uusap ngayon was dahil sa third party or may mayaman na businessman na nagbigay ng bahay sa White Plains o kaya sa Corinthians. Girlfriend Angel Locsin opted not to invite him, instead asking him to watch it during the regular screening. Does Angel want to hide from him the sensual love scene with lead actor Piolo Pascual. Two sequences of said love scene had to be scissored by Star Cinema people for being too steamy. MANILA, Philippines—Piolo Pascual fell in love with Bukidnon while shooting his movie “Love Me Again” with Angel Locsin in the province. It is about two lovers whose romance is rudely interrupted by economic necessity.

“Ibang klase yung calmness na binigay sa akin ng Bukidnon,” said PJ. “Doon ko na-feel na you don’t need material things to enjoy life. Mountains, greens and lakes lang OK na.”

During the last few days of their shoot, PJ opted to sleep in the only house in the middle of the mountains. He then proceeded with a week-long fasting, which ends Jan. 15. Today happens to be his birthday.
