Carla Abellana finally decided to transfer

After Iza Calzado transferred to ABS-CBN, there are speculating rumors that Carla will be the next Kapuso Star to transfer. In an interview with PEP, she said that she knew there was an offer but she hasn’t read it. She said that as much as possible she doesn’t want to leave GMA.

“Wala pa… Wala pang umaabot sa akin na kontrata or plano kung anong gagawin.

“Pero nasabi ko na rin naman, my heart is in GMA.

“But, I will be honest naman, kailangan kong i-open ‘yong mind ko sa ibang offers.

“I’m not saying, babay [sa Kapuso network]. Hindi naman.

“Kumbaga, at this point in my life, ano, e, kailangan mong i-open ang mind mo.

“Na i-consider ‘yong iba, ‘yong plano ng iba, ‘yong offer nila.

“So, that’s why I asked for some time off para makapag-isip talaga ako. Iyon!”

But on the recent news, tables were turned, as Carla Abellana finally made a decision of transferring to ABS-CBN. It was a hard decision for her and for her manager Arnold Vegafria, but what had made them leave were the priorities of GMA when it comes to giving projects to its talents. The most prioritize are, Marian Rivera, Barbie Forteza and Bea Binene.

“Sabi ko nga, hindi na ako bumabata. Hindi naman ako puwede na teeny-bopper forever. Career, roles… ano pa ang ibang magagawa ko? Sino pa ang ibang puwede kong makatrabaho?” she clarified.

Sandara Park says hello to old colleagues at ABS-CBN

On her last day in Manila, Korean pop star Sandara Park visited former colleagues at ABS-CBN. While her groupmates from 2NE1–CL, Bom and Minzy–opted to stay at their hotel to rest before their flight back to Korea, Sandara decided to drop by to say hello to her former Star Magic mentor Mr. Johnny Manahan, the staff of Sunday noontime show ASAP (where she was a regular) and some celebrity friends. Sandara had just returned from Albay that morning with the rest of 2NE1.

Because of time restraints, Sandara had to rush to different areas of the Kapamilya network starting with a visit to Mr. M, who was at the time directing ASAP’s live show from the control booth. The two had a short chat and she soon went to see the show’s staff including Joyce Liquicia, ASAP’s business unit head. She then headed off to the MYX studio to meet Luis Manzano, the former Star Circle Quest (SCQ) host but she eventually went back to the ASAP dressing rooms to see him. Here, she was also able to talk Kim Chiu, who is an admitted fan of Sandara.

Afterwards, Sandara headed straight to a nearby restaurant have her favorite sisig, sinigang na hipon, pakbet, gambas, and kinilaw na pusit for lunch. Here, she got to hang out with actor Joross Gamboa, one of her closest buddies from SCQ.

Sandara also decided to buy Italian food for the 2NE1 members and their entourage and here, another former SCQ member, Raphael Martinez ,caught up with them. On her way back to her hotel, Joross called actress Melissa Ricks, who was on a Walang Hanggan mall tour in Lucena, and had her talk to Sandara. Melissa thanked Sandara for the belated birthday gift the latter had sent her days earlier. Melissa was particularly touched that Sandara remembered to get what she really wanted.

It was a short trip to her “second home” and Sandara hopes she will have more time to spend with her friends the next time she visits again.

If we want lasting and effective results, then we must inculcate the true spirit of the event into our lives — which is to reduce the consumption of power, water and other critical resources. It all depends on what the individual is willing to do. In the same fashion, corporations and communities can make commitments to be more resource-efficient and environmentally responsive. Remember, it starts with nothing more than a conscious decision.” Atty. Gia Ibay, Earth Hour national director, said in a statement.(from

TV Patrol: A new fresh start in the service of the Filipino people worldwide

For more than 20 years, TV Patrol has been the consistent leading primetime newscast on television. It  is currently hosted by Ted Failon, Julius Babao, and Karen Davila.

As I was listening on Jobert Sucaldito’s radio show called Showbiz Mismo a while ago, he said that former vice president Noli de Castro and Korina Sanchez will anchor the said show starting on Monday. Both Karen and Julius will join Ces Drilon in late night news showBandila and will be focused on their DZMM radio news shows,Pasada 630 and Magandang Morning with Julius and Tin-tin respectively. Ted Failon, on the other hand, remains on the show.

Noli debuted as a TV Patrol anchor last 1987, for 14 years before he run as senator in 2001 and as vice president in 2004. Korina, on the other hand, anchored the said news program last 2001 when Noli ran for public office. She also anchored late evening news show Bandila with Henry Omaga-Diaz and Ces Drilon in anticipation of her wedding to Senator Mar Roxas and his presidential bid for the 2010 Philippine national elections.

I’m happy that they will be back in TV Patrol. I already miss them on TV. Unfortunately, because of my internship in Makati, I will not be able to watch them in the said news program. I gonna listen live-stream of DZMM online.

A new and fresh looking TV Patrol with news anchors Ted Failon, Korina Sanchez, and Noli de Castro starts on Monday, 08 November, 6:30 pm on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.

ABS-CBN continues to celebrate 60 years of Philippine soap opera

ABS-CBN continues to shine in celebration of 60 years of Philippine soap opera. They aired top-rating series this year such as Agua BenditaKung Tayo’y MagkakalayoHabang May BuhayRubiRosalkaPHR presents Impostor and1DOL. Other current dramas hits primetime like Kokey @ AkoNoah, Mara ClaraImortalMagkaribal and PHR presents Kristine.

Whether the soaps run only in few weeks or more, ABS-CBN offers high-quality stories and talented artists during primetime. Remarkable characters from these in different genres such as fantasy, action, and romance make viewers keep track from the beginning until the end.

After the network had launched the Mara Clara remake, another remake from Koreanovela called “Green Rose”. In this Koreanovela remake, Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales are the main lead. This is already the 4th Philippine adaptation from an original Koreanovela. Other Philippine Koreanovela remakes of ABS-CBN were “My Girl”, “Only You”, and “Lovers in Paris”.

Rumors about other manga/Asianovela remakes that ABS-CBN will be produced. These are Hana Yori Dango (popularly known as Meteor Garden or Boys Over Flowers), Hana Kimi, and Princess Hours.

Philippine version of Meteor Garden? I don’t know why ABS-CBN still not tired up in this series. In record, if ABS-CBN will truly produce this, we are the fifth in a row. But when I found out that Sarah Geronimo will be the possible San Chai/Jan Di, I will watch it. I just don’t know who will be the Filipino F4. Hope it will be Kanto Boyz, if possible.

Next: Hana Kimi Philippine version. It’s a good move for ABS-CBN to have a remake of this. We are the 3rd country to have that version. Maja Salvador rumored to play Ella Chen’s role. I must say that she would be a good choice.

Finally, Korea’s Princess Hours. Wait, Princess Hours? ABS-CBN, are you insane? Frankly speaking, it’s a wrong choice of Philippine adaptation of this Koreanovela. And Koreanovela again? I’m already disgusted if you continue doing Koreanovela remakes. Better if ABS-CBN will have Philippine version of Romantic Princess.

Well, these three are not yet confirmed. But they still have long time to think and decide what to make an adaptation with a Philippine twist from manga/Asianovela.  Better choice of actors and actresses to play those characters is also important because they will risen up the plot of a drama.

What are other manga/Asianovela will you recommend and why? Who will be the main cast? Will they reach the success of ABS-CBN’s first Philippine Koreanovela adaptation My Girl? Let’s see…
