It took a has-been with a storied past to push broadcast giant ABS CBN to a corner. Regrettably it was a hugely popular daily program that suffered as a result of two indiscretions committed by the same person. Talk about bad luck and guests who wear thin their welcome.
Our mouth dropped when Rosanna Roces reacted to co-judge Vice Ganda’s comment during the January 4 episode of the show ‘’It’s Showtime’’ by mouthing near expletives (to wit: “Walanghiya ka talaga, hayop ka, demonyo ka”…)
That incident alone resulted in the filing of a complaint against the TV station. It was a probable violation of section 3(C) of PD No. 1986.
Three days later, it was not mere shock anymore but anger that overtook us when we heard Roces coaxing a child contestant to “curse their teachers”. Not content, she bragged that as a student, she did the same to get even when instructors did not teach them well. “Murahin mo yung teacher mo. Ako minura ko yung teacher ko nung hindi niya sinagot sa akin ‘yan.” It took a has-been with a storied past to push broadcast giant ABS CBN to a corner. MANILA - Actor Piolo Pascual said it will be “a dream come true” for him if he is called on to play former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. in an upcoming biopic about former president Corazon “Cory” Aquino.
Pascual, who is back in Manila after his successful Europe concert with other heartthrobs Sam Milby and John Lloyd Cruz, said that he will consider the project as “one of the biggest gifts” he will ever receive.
“If and when that happens (film role), you know, pangarap na natupad ‘yon at malaking regalo ‘yon para sa akin. It will be really, really interesting. But for now, I’m just focusing on what’s at hand and doon muna tayo,” Pascual said on entertainment show “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon.”

That’s how political observers see the VP race in 2010
Trust the campaign veterans to look at events from unexpected perspectives.
One strategist, who has been through several national campaigns, instantly shared with Newsbreak a comment when the ruling Lakas-Kampi-CMD party announced on Friday that former Optical Media Board chair Edu Manzano would be its vice presidential bet for 2010.
“So it’s going to be Korina vs Loren vs Pinky now?” he said. The comment is in reference to Manzano’s known close friendship with ABS-CBN news talent Pinky Webb.
Come to think of it, those running for vice president next year are either related one way or another to ABS-CBN news talents, if not talents themselves.

Followers of the ABS-CBN late-morning show Ruffa & Ai
probably didn’t notice it but for two days last week, co-host Ruffa Gutierez (with Ai-Ai delas Alas) was red-eyed… from crying? According to Funfare’s Bohol Avenue DPA, last Wednesday Ruffa was on the phone while all the guests were in, including Lea Salonga. When she came out of her dressing room, “Her eyes were red, obviously from crying,” said the DPA. Same thing happened the next day: Ruffa was again on the phone, crying while talking to somebody “mysterious.”
The question is: Who was she talking to and why was she crying?
Wild guess: John Lloyd Cruz?

MANILA - Could it be true that Willie Revillame has decided to leave ABS-CBN — that is, as soon as he is released from his contract?
Funfare’s Bohol Avenue DPA said that last Friday Revillame sent a letter to the ABS-CBN management requesting that his contract, which is good until 2011, be rescinded.
Apparently, Revillame was disappointed that the company didn’t even come to his defense, or at least issue an official statement, while he was caught in “a firestorm” generated by his on-the-air tantrum on “Wowowee” two weeks ago when clips of former President Cory Aquino’s casket while being moved from La Salle to the Manila Cathedral was inserted on the show.

In a move meant to prove to all that Willie Revillame is still their favorite son, ABS-CBN has defended the beleaguered host of the popular noontime show, Wowowee, from a complaint filed by the MTRCB with the KBP.
MTRCB Chairman Consoliza Laguardia filed a complaint against Revillame last Aug. 10, stemming from the mounting public indignation caused by the host’s on air outburst over the live stream video of former President Corazon Aquino’s funeral cortege.
On that Aug. 3 Wowowee show, Revillame was heard saying, “Pangit! Hindi ho maganda sa atin. Nagsasalita [ako], ipinapakita yung kabaong ni Tita Cory, hindi ba? Papano kami makapagsasaya?”

At a recent exclusive Manila Bulletin coverage of the taping of the primetime remake of Regal Films’ “Katorse” held at the Parks & Wildlife in Quezon City, Erich Gonzales expressed how lucky she feels these days that she has been given the biggest break of her showbiz career.
In the forthcoming ABS-CBN teleserye, Erich plays the role essayed by Dina Bonnevie in the original movie. “Playing that role alone that was played by a great actress makes me feel so lucky,” Erich said. She’s also very honored, she added, to be working with the likes of Cherie Gil and Gardo Versoza who play the rich parents of EJ Falcon who is her leading man in “Katorse.” Both Erich and EJ are the grand winners of two different ABS-CBN reality-shows.

MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE) The condition of former Philippine president Corazon Aquino, in hospital for colon cancer, has deteriorated, her daughter said in a televised interview Monday.
Prayers have been said across this mostly Catholic Southeast Asian nation for Aquino, 76, who has been hospitalized for the past month.
“This is the hardest time for all of us,” Kristina Bernadette Aquino told ABS-CBN television.
Aquino’s daughter wept as she outlined her mother’s condition.
“She is in pain already, so please pray for her so that it could be lessened.”
