‘Cops’ rob Pasig warehouse of P1.2 million

MANILA, Philippines – After a three-month lull, armed men in police uniform struck at a Pasig City warehouse yesterday, disarming and hogtying eight security guards and taking P1.2 million before fleeing.

Metro police chief Director Roberto Rosales ordered an investigation into the incident to determine why the suspects managed to pull off the robbery despite his directive that police cars should always be present during police operations in Metro Manila.

“We wanted to know if the security guards were notified of our business bulletin calling for establishment owners not to entertain policemen unaccompanied by mobile cars during operations, or whether they are in cahoots with the robbers,” said Rosale.

Eating out without guilt

A lot of people who watch their weight swear by food delivery service. What that means is that you receive a day’s supply of five meals — breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner. They come in microwavable containers, which makes it very convenient to bring to the office. The idea is to eat almost every three hours, which takes care of about 12 to 15 of your active hours.

A lot of Hollywood celebrities either have food delivered regularly or have their own chefs whipping up a full day’s meal plan. Those who have tried it locally know that normally, there is a minimum package of 14 days so you have to pay the full package price before the daily deliveries begin.

It’s all about fashion at SM’s Augustyle

MANILA, Philippines – With the rains in full effect that day, it was easy to feel the blues. Good thing SM brought a much-needed dose of bright fashion ideas through its Augustyle Fashion Forum. Hosted by VJ Joey Mead, the forum featured beauty and fashion experts sharing the latest trends.

The Augustyle Fashion Forum also held a mini fashion show that focused on SM’s latest collections. Everyone who attended the event went away armed with helpful tips on sprucing up their wardrobe.

For example, girls’ teens wear need not be drab black-and-white ensembles. By adding a hint of pink or colored details, the outfit becomes unique and more personal.

For those who love their LBDs, why not add frills and textured details for an even more eye-catching affair? Even work wear can spell powerful and fabulous by adding a twist or playing with shapes that flatter the body.

Gelli has a new family

With the passing away of showbiz legend and friend Douglas Quijano, it was expected that some of his talents would eventually look for management representation.

For Gelli de Belen, making that move came sooner than later. Besieged and blessed with work and offers, she needed immediate help.

So, we welcomed Gelli to our Backroom family which she’s been a long part of by virtue of her being the wife of Backroom’s first artist, Ariel Rivera.

According to Gelli, it was the most natural step to take. With mentoring from Tito Dougs, Gelli has become one of the most bankable artists. At this point, what she needed was someone who knew her personally and professionally and one who could guide her as to where she could take her career next while taking into consideration her other priorities such as family.

Who are showbiz’s polite stars?

This is a continuation of my list of the polite and courteous young stars in I’m glad that the list is long because that means this world is getting to be a much better place with well-mannered young people. And so here is the second part: .

KC Concepcion — The classic like mother, like daughter. She obviously inherited the excellent public relations skills of her mother, Sharon Cuneta. I knew her as a kid and to my surprise, she said that she also remembers me. (We were in Boston around the same time a little more than a decade ago.) When I interviewed her last year as part of the promo for her movie For the First Time, we hugged each other warmly and it seemed like it was only yesterday when we bumped accidentally into each other at the Boston Common (she was with Sharon and then Senator-to-be Francis Pangilinan) and we screamed with delight at the chance meeting. She was practically just a kid then, but look at how she’s grown — so beautiful. Her heart, however, hardly changed. She’s still the same nice kid, who I watched play in the corridors of St. Luke’s Medical Center when I visited her mother after a slip at the New Frontier Theater during the premiere night of one of her movies in the early ’90s. KC may be all woman now, but in my eyes she’s still the same polite and courteous little girl I knew from way back.
