Chief Justice Corona’s Judgement Day: Guilty Or Not Guilty?

Today Chief Justice Renato Corona’s fate now hangs on 23 senators, who sit as judges in the impeachment trial of Corona that started on January 16, 2012 and ended on Monday, May 28, 2012.

According to Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, first thing that will happen on the court is the voting of all the senators judges under the Article 2 after this is the Article 3 and the final vote will be on the Article 3.

Sen. Sotto explained that under Article 2 is the decision of the court if they will acquit Corona after that the senator-judges will vote the two (2) remaining article.

To convict the Chief Justice, 16 votes are needed or two-thirds of the 23 senator-judges while Corona would need eight votes to be acquitted.

If Corona will be convicted, he will be removed from being the Chief Justice.
