Beating the other 112 of 113 beauty from Albania to Zimbabwe, Miss Philippines Gwendoline Ruais was crowned as the first-runner up in Miss World held at Earls Court, London.
According to Miss World Organization chairman and chief executive Julia Morley, there was only a small difference between the scores of Miss Venezuela and Miss Philippines in their fight for the title.
With her win, Ruais said that she was happy to win the title for her country and fellowmen and also receive the support from the people who flocked to Earl Court.
In an interview after the pageant, Ruais also mentioned that she can already have a goodnight’s sleep because her nervousness is already gone. Ruais added that with her win she hopes that Filipinos would be proud and be happy for her win in the competition.
The Miss World 2011 title was given to Miss Venezuela, Ivian Sarcos while the second runner up title was awarded to Miss Puerto Rico, Amanda Perez.
It was announced that the venue for the 2012 competition will be in Ordos in Inner Mongolia, China.
