Oprah site denies Miss Universe statements

A few hours after the momentous win of Shamcey Supsup as a 3rd runner-up of Ms. Universe 2011, a statement, allegedly from the “Queen of Talk”, Oprah Winfrey circulated around the Internet especially over Facebook and Twitter. The statement was believed to be aired via NBC, which aired the beauty pageant.

The statement read:

“I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the     Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point.”

Because of the wildfire spread of the statement, a moderator of Oprah’s official website Oprah.com issued a statement and stated that:

“There is no truth to the statement. Ms. Winfrey has not made any comments of this nature. Thank you for asking.”

The moderator, named OWNModerator13, also added that

“Please note that there are many rumors circulating on the Internet. For this reason we encourage our members to visit the Press Room on Oprah.com to get the latest updates and news: http://www.oprah.com/pressroom/Press-Releases-Oprah-in-the-News,”

Supsup, during the Question and Answer portion was asked on whether she would compromise her religion she loves, Supsup answered: “I would not change my religion because, first of all, I love my God who created me and if that person truly loves me, he must also love my God.”
