The lead stars of Star Cinema’s family drama movie of the year “Way Back Home” were overwhelmed with the supports of their fans during the premiere night of the movie at SM Megamall Cinema 6 on Tuesday.
In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon,” actress Kathryn Bernardo said she did not expect that their first screening would be that successful.
“Excited talaga kami pero mas marami po talaga yung kinabahan kami. Hindi po namin inexpect na ganito karami ang pupunta sa premiere night. Maraming salamat. Natutuwa kami dahil nagustuhan nila ang mga pinaghirapan namin,” she said.
Actress Julia Montes, meanwhile, admitted she was not able to hold her emotions as she gave a speech before the audience who came to see their movie for the first time.
“Kasi po hindi ko rin inaakala na magli-lead kami sa movie. Iniisip ko nung nakatayo ako doon at nagsasabi ng speech sa mga taong sumusuporta sa amin, parang hindi ko talaga mapigil yung emotions ko sa mga sumusupport,” she said.
Actor Enrique Gil, on the other hand, was grateful for the reception of their fans with his tandem with Bernardo.
“Napaka-proud and napaka-happy namin sa mga eksena namin kasi noong una akala ko hindi talaga magki-click kasi first time namin magka-tandem. Pero napaka-fulfilling, napaka-happy and blessed po na okay naman lahat,” he said.
Meanwhile, actor Sam Concepcion said he is also thankful for all the fans of the late actor AJ Perez, who still supported the movie.
“Salamat. Sobrang salamat. Sobrang saya ko noong nakita ko sila Tito Gerry and yung buong family. Sobrang overwhelming yung success namin tonight and dahil yun sa mga pumunta ngayon tonight,” he said.
Perez was originally part of the cast before he died.
Spotted in the red carpet event were Bernardo and Montes’ co-stars in the recently concluded ABS-CBN series “Mara Clara” including Kiray Celis, Diego Loyzaga, Mylene Dizon and Dimples Romana.
The cast of “Good Vibes” and the family of Perez were also present.
“Way Back Home” received a “B” rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board.
It will be shown in theaters nationwide starting August 17.
