MANILA, Philippines – Makati Mayor and leading vice-presidential candidate Jejomar “Jojo” Binay has ordered a probe into the accident which injured 8 people during the Family Day at the Makati City Hall grounds on Sunday.
Seven children and a female employee of the Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD) were hurt after falling off a huge inflatable slide that became unstable because of strong winds Sunday at around noon.
“This is an unfortunate incident. I have asked those concerned to give me a report within 48 hours so we can determine if there had been negligence,” Binay said in a statement.
The injured were treated for minor bruises and contusions at the Acute Care Center of the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) in Bel-Air. They have all been discharged from the hospital.
Binay has also directed the MSWD and OsMak officials to extend all possible assistance to the victims, specifically instructing OsMak to give free treatment.
“We will provide all the assistance needed by the victims of this unfortunate incident,” assured Binay, who expressed deep regret over the accident.
