Ceneco: Explained the Cause of Brownout in Negros

BACOLOD CITY, (PNA) – The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) here explained that it will continue to implement load shedding due to power shortage being experienced during peak hours in Negros Occidental province.

In a notice to the public, Ceneco said that although maintenance work on the Palinpinon Geothermal Plant had already been completed last April 26, a power shortage still remains.

Unavailability of Unit 1 of Palinpinon Geothermal Power Plant 2 has aggravated the power situation and has caused brownouts affecting several of its service areas in the province. Ceneco spokesperson, Sulpicio Legarde Jr. said a result of such situation was the reason for the brownout last Wednesday which lasted for some two hours here.

Areas affected by said last Wednesday’s brownout included Libertad, Mansilingan, Vista Alegre, Barangay Alijis to Barangay Pahanocoy, Golden Fields, Barangay Singcang Airport, Burgos, Barangay Alangilan, Granada, Camingawan, Barangay Villamonte, the boundary between Bacolod and Bago cities to Mailum and PNOC, some parts of Talisay City and Silay City.
