Luzon is on hightened Alert!

Due to the lack of fuel knocked out half the capacity of the country’s largest coal plant in Sual, Pangasinan, Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon are on brownout “red alert”

Unit 1 of the plant shut down due to “feedwater pump trouble,” and because of that Metro Manila suffered from two-hour rotating brownouts last Monday.

Unit 1 is expected to return to normal today, but unit 2 won’t be on stream until the first week of February. There is a coal supply problem in Sual,” Claudio said.

And he added that the delivery of new coal was expected in the first week of February. Once the unit 1 of Sual and other plants came back online, power supply would return to normal.
