52 votes vs Proc. 1959 prior to joint session
MANILA, Philippines – A total of 36 congressmen have signed three separate resolutions calling for the revocation of Proclamation 1959 declaring martial law and suspending the writ of habeas corpus in Maguindanao.
Congress will hold a joint session at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, to deliberate on Proclamation No. 1959. Adding the 18 senators opposed to the proclamation, it means there were at least 52 votes to revoke martial law, as of posting time.
A majority vote of at least 147 members of Congress, voting jointly, will revoke martial law in Maguindanao.
