Presidential aspirant Senator Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III on Tuesday said he is still not confident of victory in the 2010 elections despite his impressive performance in presidential surveys.
Interviewed by reporters, Aquino said he is maintaining his vigilance to ensure that the next year’s automated polls – the first in Philippine history on a nationwide scale – would not be rigged.
“Siyempre nakakatuwa yun pero dapat lalo tayong magpursigi at lalong magtiyaga na mapalaki natin kung pwede ang lamang na yan at marami na nga tayong istorya ng pandaraya sa eleksyon,” said Aquino.
(Of course I am pleased about the survey results, but we have to work harder to widen the lead because we’ve been hearing about stories of electoral fraud.)
Aquino placed first among other presidential aspirants in a survey conducted by Pulse Asia from October 22-30.
