Globe implements new rates for mobile Internet

In a bid to boost mobile Internet usage, Globe Telecom Inc., has adopted a new charging scheme that reduces the cost of surfing the Internet via phones, according to data from the National Telecommunication Commission.

In an order, the NTC approved the application of Globe to set the charging scheme of its mobile Internet service to duration based charging like the time charging in the Internet café to entice more subscribers to use phone for surfing Internet.

NTC said Globe will be charging its prepaid subscribers P5 for every session of mobile Internet connection.

One chargeable session is defined as the time from initial connection with the Internet until the 15th minute.
