Storm signals raised as ‘Ramil’ approaches Northeastern Luzon

MANILA – The state weather agency on late Monday evening has raised storm signals over provinces in the northeastern part of the country as Typhoon “Ramil” (international code name Lupit) approached Luzon while still bearing its near-supertyphoon winds.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its 11 p.m. update, raised Public Storm Signal No. 1 over the provinces of Isabela, Cagayan (including Calayan and Babuyan islands) and the Batanes group of islands.

PAGASA earlier said that Typhoon Ramil is expected to make landfall at extreme northern Luzon by Thursday morning or afternoon.
