Metro Manila strike paralyzes 70% of public transport, Piston claims

MANILA, Philippines — The strike staged today by various transport groups has crippled 70 percent of the public transport in Metro Manila, militant group Piston claimed.

Piston secretary general George San Mateo estimated that 70 percent of public utility jeepney drivers in the metropolis joined the transport stoppage.

Similar strikes by Piston-allied transport organizations in different urban districts in Southern Tagalog (80 percent), Bicol (80 percent), Davao (85 percent), Cagayan de Oro (80 percent) and Iligan City (80 percent) were also successful, San Mateo added.
