Cruise ship seized for nonpayment of taxes

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Finance (DoF) has ordered the forfeiture of a P100-million luxury cruise ship which the Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized after its owner allegedly failed to pay P19 million in import duties.

Finance Undersecretary Estela Sales issued the forfeiture order on the MV 7,107 Islands Cruise, after denying a motion for reconsideration filed by the vessel’s owner, Esteban Tajanlangit of 7,107 Islands Shipping Corp.
