SBP team gets crack at PBA

Nearly three decades since an all-amateur team competed in the pro league, the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) board has agreed again to allow non-professional team to play in the PBA Philippine Cup next season after giving the Smart Gilas RP team the go-signal to join the competition.

As in the past, the rationale was the same: The PBA is allowing the RP team to gain every opportunity to gain experience for its long international campaign ahead.
