House OKs SSS condonation

he House of Representatives has approved on third and final reading a bill authorizing the Social Security System (SSS) to grant employers a one-time condonation on penalties imposed for late or non-remittance of social security premiums of their workers.

Authored by lawmakers led by Quezon Rep. Lorenzo Tañada III, together with Deputy Speakers Amelita Villarosa and Raul del Mar, the proposed Social Security Condonation Law of 2009 was unanimously approved before Congress went on Lenten break last week.
