UST Tigers grab UAAP general championship for 36th time

MANILA, Philippines - Pouncing on its solid showing in many fronts, University of Santo Tomas bagged the general championship of the 71st University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season for its 36th overall crown.

The overall champions for the 11th straight now, the Tigers finished with a winning aggregate of 333 points built on nine titles. They won men’s fencing, women’s football, men’s swimming, men’s table tennis, men’s and women’s taekwondo, women’s tennis, men’s volleyball and men’s beach volleyball.

UST also posted eight second-place finishes (men’s badminton, men’s chess, women’s judo, softball, women’s table tennis, men’s tennis, men’s and women’s track and field) and grabbed eight third-place trophies (women’s badminton, women’s basketball, women’s chess, women’s fencing, men’s judo, women’s swimming, women’s volleyball and women’s beach volleyball) to cement its position as the league’s top school.
