Meralco to start refunding P3.9B to its customers

The Lopez-led firm, which in December had asked the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to defer the refund given tight cash flows, said it would comply starting next month.

Clients using an average of P200 kilowatt-hours per month will have P8 lopped off their power bills, it added.

The ERC said it was taking note of the power distributor’s finances and was thus directing a refund of just four centavos per kilowatt-hour, not the full P0.14//kWh originally ordered when it found that Meralco had over-collected in its currency exchange rate adjustment (CERA).
