RP telecom regulation moves slowly

The Philippines’ telecommunications regulatory environment (TRE) has seen “mild improvements” in the last two years, a study conducted by the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) and LIRNEasia showed.

The TRE study, which is part of an Asia-wide study that included eight countries, touched on the perceived effectiveness of telecommunications regulatory policies.

This is the second study conducted by LIRNEasia and NCPAG since 2006.

The study showed that the Philippines has been lagging behind countries like India and Pakistan in terms of improvements in the regulatory policies for the telecommunications industry.
