Price regulation for cooking gas sought

Nueva Ecija Rep. Rodolfo W. Antonino (4th district), committee vice-chairman, said the inclusion of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the list of basic commodities under Republic Act (RA) 7581, or the Price Act, would allow monitoring of the commodity “so that we can establish some form of price control.”

“Nowadays, especially in urbanized areas it is used as a basic commodity, so it’s odd that it still isn’t regulated,” he told BusinessWorld yesterday.

RA 7581 requires the government to ensure the availability of prime commodities at reasonable prices.
