Prices creep up despite anemic trading

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index gained just 0.58% or 10.89 points to 1,880.81, while the all shares index added 0.63% or 7.74 points to 1,219.25.

A total of 704 million shares worth P570 million were traded. Net foreign selling summed up to P60 million.

Advancers led decliners 41 to 18 while 53 stocks did not move.

“Nothing was happening. Investors were looking for more cues where the economy, especially the US economy, is heading. They preferred to stay on the sidelines,” said Jun Calaycay, Jr. of Accord Capital Equities Corp.
