Nani Perez asks SC to dismiss his $2-M extort-linked cases, says justice biased

Again citing technicalities, among other things, former Justice Secretary Hernando “Nani” Perez yesterday urged the Supreme Court to stop the fourth division of the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan from hearing the remaining cases that stemmed from a $2-million extortion complaint filed against him by former Manila Rep. Mark Jimenez.

In a 35-page petition, Perez claimed that the Sandiganbayan violated his constitutional rights when its fourth division, in its Dec. 19, 2008 decision, junked his petition seeking to allow him to examine all the documents and evidence presented by government lawyers prosecuting his case.
