House probe on drugs starts

MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATE) Saying there’s more to uncover, lawmakers at the House of Representatives resumed their inquiry Friday on the extent of the drug problem in the country and on the alleged involvement of local and national officials.

Congressman Roque Ablan Jr., chairman of the committee on dangerous drugs, said they would pursue the information disclosed by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) director Dionisio Santiago on the alleged involvement of politicians in the illegal drug trade for their election campaign.
