Local peanut butter safe

THE Bureau of Food and Drugs yesterday said locally made peanut butter is safe to eat, noting there are no signs of contamination in Philippine food products amid the peanut butter scare in the United States.  
BFAD director Leticia Barbara Gutierrez said  monitoring teams have found no sign of the peanut butter contamination that hit the US based on regular checks and sample collection conducted during the weekend on distributors and stores nationwide.  
“We have not found any contamination for now. Our local food products are also safe,” he said.
