AFP sticks to rescue plan

THE Armed Forces yesterday said they are continuing their rescue plan for the kidnapped workers of the International Committee of the Red Cross despite the ongoing negotiations between ICRC officials and the kidnappers. At the same time, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro turned down the offer of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front to help solve the kidnapping of the  three ICRC staff.
In a talk with defense reporters, Teodoro said he did not like the idea considering that the MILF has no presence in Sulu.
“But once they are able to establish a foothold in Sulu, they may no longer leave, causing more future problems,”  he said.
