Bernabe “Kamaong Llave” Concepcion showed fight fans that he has what it takes to follow the footsteps of idol Manny Pacquiao by defeating a durable Sande Otieno by technical knockout to win the WBC International featherweight crown Sunday night at the Araneta Coliseum.
Concepcion repeatedly jarred the left-handed Otieno with powerful right straights, forcing the bleeding Kenyan native to surrender the fight after five rounds.
The Filipino boxer showed he could handle Otieno’s punches that one time he positioned himself at a corner, inviting the Kenyan to batter him.
“’Di ako nasaktan,” said Concepcion. “First round pa lang nalaman kong kaya ko ang suntok n’ya.”
The 20-year-old Filipino fighter first rattled Otieno with a right hook to the head in the opening round. He continued to pressure the Kenyan in the second round, putting his opponent in constant trouble.
